We are hurling across the 10 fwy through Texas now and even the motorcycles here are bigger than the Buick. Just about everyone here drives a 1997 dark blue chevrolet suburban with a Texas long horn sticker on the back window. Anyone driving anything else has out of state plates. Ok, sorry about the stereotypes but honestly i suspected that if budget had given us a Toyota Prius - things might have been kinda sketchy for us in beumont if you catch my drift.
So what did we do upon entering this land of cowboys and outlaws and oil? An art museum obviously.

Newmans broken obelisk in front of Rothkos chapel.
I've wanted to see rothkos chapel for awhile, and now I'm here.

Houston has a few art museums and we hit just about all of them. Seen below is the original sketch for Claus Oldenbergs "Free" stamp sculpture which now resides in downtown cleveland:

at the center for photography there was this guy from laguna beach who, much to aprils chagrin, seemed to be making her work.

District 9 was released today, this is the theatre in Houston we watched it in.

One if the best sci fi films I've ever seen!
On our way south, we picked up Jerkey & dippin dots at some travel center.

And a few hours later were floating across the bay toward port aransas.

And we camped on the beach.

Do you ever wonder who decided that jerkey was a must have for traveling? Smart man...or woman.
