Day 8 - Part 2 - And beyond!

As I was saying, we really did think our day was pretty much over. We even entertained ourselves in a peanut butter and Oregon blackberry jelly sandwich competition:

April

Sean

In my own professional opinion I'd like to point out that Sean cheated because he used celery - but we'll let you be the judge of which one of us is more delusional..

Oh right - Wyoming:

Just on the other side of this tunnel is Cody, Wyoming known as the birthpace of Jackson Pollock. But before Pollock was Buffalo Bill - he created this town, and actually is the reason for the tourism (sorry Pollock).

With flashing lights and big billboards, we read "Rodeo!"
We followed like bugs in a big blue zapper.
Coincidentally it started 20minutes after we got there (they had us tourists down)
Yeay! My first rodeo!
Sean got me a souvineer program too :)

This is my friend Pete. He says hi

We saw all kinds of events - bareback riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, team roping, barrel racing, and of course bull riding, all with both mens and womens divisions. They even had a 12 & under bull riding event!! Those little boys were riding full grown bulls!

Thanks Buffalo Bill Cody Stampede! That was so much fun!

Hmm, what for dinner? Oh, how about a western bar/steak house?!

They even had a live band and line dancing (reminds me of home)

Look Robin - it's "Brown Eyed Girl" country style!

Though we didn't have Steaks, we did go for the burgers. Leave it to Sean to take it one step further and eat our friends - elk and buffalo!

On our way out we saw a painting of Sitting Bull:

This image was a reminder of the dilly dallying we did & our distance to the next location - the crazy horse monument - 6 hours away in South Dakota...
Here's to another long night of driving!

  1. This is from Robin...Perfect! Ironically, while you were enjoying your country version of brown eyed girl, we were enjoying a live island version on Seabrook Island at the marina. This brown eyed girl song included green eyed girl (for me!) and blue eyed girl (that's Bailey!) and even calico eyed girl (for God knows who???) Happy Trails! Love, Robin
